Friday folly – 1973 Cadillac Eldorado
The perfect thing for replaying Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Couldn't resist highlighting this one out of the Trade Unique Cars classifieds: a 1973 Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
Despite running an 8lt V8, these things weren't rockets, with a zero to sixty (mph) time of over 9 seconds and a top speed just nudging 190. Still, that's probably quick enough in one of these floaty land yachts.
It would nevertheless be a glorious thing to cruise in on a warm night.
There are no tricks with the mechanicals, but highly-specced ones need to be checked that all the power toys, such as windows, seats etcetera, actually work.
Cadillac had several levels of specification in this range and by this year the Eldorado was marketed effectively as a model range in its own right.
Mechanicals are straight forward and tough, but bodywork needs to be checked carefully.
If this one checks out, it offers a hell of a lot of car for the money and would make an interesting platform for some well thought-out mods.
And, no, we're not sure if the Texas cowhorns come with it...
