The 327 GTS - the original Holden Monaro - is a true classic and an undeniably iconic Australian-born muscle bar...
The GTS 327 took on Bathurst in the late ‘60s and was Holden’s answer to Ford’s XT GT. With its Chevrolet 327 V8 and heavy-duty transmission, it was purpose-built to win races - and that’s exactly what it did.
"It is a magnificent car now, it drives like it did, it makes you feel good and every time I step into one, I feel like I’m 18 and there’s chicks chasing me," says Unique Cars editor, Greg Leech.
Rob Losurdo, owner of our magnificent Pickardy Red featured car, says he lives and breathes muscle cars.
"Today's muscle cars, they're very soft in nature and comfortable, but if you drive something like this, it's definitely a muscle car. The engine noise - you've gotta work to get the satisfaction out of driving this car," he says.
When purchased many years ago for $4400, Rob used the Monaro as his everyday car and said, "great car, the chicks loved it, I was king of the road."
