FPM Motorexpo Melbourne
If you're into horsepower, then don't miss the inaugural FPM Motorexpo in Melbourne from 8-10 April. More than 180 cars, bikes, go-karts and boats will be on display at the Royal Exhibiton Building, Carlton
If Motorclassica is a bit too stuffed shirt and sensible shoes for your liking, how about a Melbourne car show with a bit more horsepower under the hood? That’s the premise behind the Factory Performance Machines Motorexpo, due to swing open the doors to the Royal Exhibition Building for its inaugural show for the weekend of the 8th through 10th of April.
The entry list is filling up fast and more than 180 cars, bikes, go-karts and boats are on display. Basically if it’s got an engine and it’s fast and loud, it’s in. Highlights include the Bathurst 12 Hour Nissan R35 Nismo GTR, the brand new BMW M6 GT3 race car, a freshly-restored Max Stewart Formula 5000 which won the Melbourne Grand Prix in 1973, Mercedes’ stunning AMG Gt race car, Doc Brown’s ‘Back To The Future’ DeLorean and much more. Le Mans race cars, rare prototype bikes, customised road cars, hydroplanes, F1 cars – you name it, it’s on the list. There’s a 40th Anniversary celebration of Ducati, 250kph Superkarts, 1100kW Jet Sprint boats and the first appearance in six years of a sweet 1987 Brock Commodore VL Director.
Peter Brock figures quite heavily, the Motorexpo featuring a celebration of his life as we approach the 10th anniversary of his passing. Two of the best-known and rarest road-going Brock Commodores are due to appear as well as some other race cars wearing the magical ‘05’ numbers. Car simulators, an RC track, hobby shops and stacks of trade exhibitors ought to guarantee interest for everyone. You’ll be doing a good turn too, as door receipts are helping the Leukaemia Foundation. Sounds like a winner all ends up.
