Adelaide Motorsport Festival 2016 Gallery
'Museum in motion' lives up to the billing.
The Adelaide Motorsport Festival and Classic Adelaide rally have been run and won, with plenty of noise, colour and excitement hitting the track over the three day event.
The shortened Adelaide GP track saw cars power down the main straight, hook a right at Wakefield Street, then return to the Victoria Park complex; action was lively and there was barely a quiet moment on-track.
Former Leyton House F1 star Ivan Capelli topped the leaderboard with a time of just 43.28; swift given he was only running demonstration laps in his former racecar!
The official fastest lap was set by Brenton Ramsay with a 45.8 set in a Reynard 94D Formula Holden.
After being battered by golf ball-sized hailstones just seven days earlier, Adelaide turned on two toasty days well into the 30s, but that didn’t stop owners and drivers from getting spirited behind the wheel.
Not only a highlight for Ferrari fans, but any car enthusiast with eyes and ears, the Ferrari Spettacolo on Sunday saw a mammoth display from the Prancing Horse, including the previously-featured Ferrari F40 GTE driven by Josh Kean and a Ferrari 599XX driven by Tim Slade.
We caught up with Pierluigi Martini as he made his way to the Minardi M189 he piloted to sixth place in the 1989 Australian Grand Prix. Asked if was enjoying himself being back on the streets of Adelaide, he nodded, explaining "It’s a wonderful event!"
With that kind of international endorsement, make sure you mark it in for 2017.
