The Nissan Datsun Sports Owners’ Club held their annual Show n Shine at Nissan HQ over the weekend
The Nissan Datsun Sports Owners’ Club (NDSOC) held their nationals over the Easter Weekend, with various events including a track day at Sandown, and a Show N Shine held at Nissan’s Dandenong headquarters.
We tagged along with Whichcar journalist, and Nissan Z32 owner, Tony O’Kane to NDSOC’s Show N Shine to see what’s what.
There were a bevy of classic Nissans and Datsun, from early chrome-bumpers to the more modern variety.

Sydney-based Peter Landon made the trek down to Melbourne in his newly-restored 1971 Datsun ‘Hakosuka’ Skyline. It was a consistent crowd favourite thanks to its ‘Kyusha’-inspired build complete with wildly wide wheels, airbag suspension and vintage-inspired livery. One of Peter’s other toys, a GT-R clone built out of a C110 ‘Kenmari’ Skyline, featured heavily in a Datsun/Nissan drive feature last year!
A pair of SVD R31 Skylines, a Series I (white) and Series II (red), were looking delightful in the midday sun. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Japanese-themed issue of Unique Cars for a closer look this very GTS1 SVD.
Another UniqueCars alumn, this gorgeous and completely original 240Z appeared on the cover of our last Japanese-themed issue, #414.
This 240Z boasted a very interesting driveline swap. Under the bonnet sat an RB25DET from a late-model R34 Skyline GTT. The ‘NEO’ head first appeared in 1998, and boasted a lower fuel consumption and emissions output; thanks to solid lifters, revised camshafts and variable cam timing. The fantastically-executed swap followed through into the cabin, with an R34 steering wheel, instrument cluster and DIN gauges taking their respective new homes inside the 240’s classic interior.
Not the Datsun 1200 you’re used to seeing, this was an early 60s model. It looked absolutely stunning with its wooden bed – we’d love to cruise around in something like this!
