ENDING SOON: Chicane Auctions February Sale!

With bidding live and the countdown underway, Chicane Auctions’ February Classic Car Auction is firmly in motion, offering collectors a rare opportunity to secure properly documented classics…. before the hammer falls on Thursday night from 8:30 pm Melbourne time.

At the sharp end of the auction sale is the 1970 Ford Falcon XY GT (Manual), a genuine L-code four-speed example finished in factory-correct Yellow Ochre with Saddle trim, supported by an ACCHS Deluxe Report and ICAARS certification. Long known by its former NSW registration “HOHOHO”, this properly documented GT is offered with a realistic price guide and no hype.

Alongside it sits one of the standout early Mustangs in Australia, the 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback GT ‘Deluxe’, a genuine A-code factory GT finished in factory Raven Black with power steering, air conditioning and Interior Décor Group trim. Converted to right-hand drive in 1997 with full engineering approval, it presents as a highly original, low-mileage Fastback with excellent provenance.

Survivor-grade originality is a defining theme of the catalogue. The 1970 Ford Falcon 500 XW (One Owner) remains in completely original paint with just 50,329 miles, retaining full books, history and matching numbers throughout. Equally impressive is the 1968 Dodge Charger, a museum-grade ‘Survivor’ example retaining its original paint, interior and documentation, powered by the factory 318ci V8 and supplied with original components removed over time.

Australian icons feature prominently, led by the 1985 Holden Commodore VK SL V8 Police Interceptor, an authentic Victorian Police ‘TOG’ pursuit car finished in its original Police colour 1D008D Absynthe Yellow following a recent restoration. The catalogue also includes a 1972 Valiant Charger VH E37 R/T Tribute, built around a genuine E37 Six Pack engine and hard-to-find period performance components, delivering the visual and mechanical presence of Chrysler Australia’s most revered muscle car.

Ford enthusiasts are well catered for with a strong mix of modified and restored classics, including the 1969 Ford Fairmont XT powered by a professionally built 408ci Windsor stroker, the 1970 Ford Fairmont XW Y-Code V8, a genuine matching-numbers example restored to a high standard, and a formidable 1970 Ford Falcon XW GT-HO Phase II Tribute, built in the spirit of Ford’s most legendary Falcon with serious Cleveland power and supporting hardware.

American icons round out the sale in style. The 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop presents as a beautifully restored Tri-Five classic finished in Matador Red, while the 1986 Buick Grand National WE2, offered UNRESERVED, represents one of the most desirable turbocharged performance cars of the 1980s and is sourced from Australia’s largest Buick collection. An 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback Shelby GT350R tribute with brand new paint work and go fast drive-line is a turn key example. Completing the catalogue is a striking 1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville, a right-hand-drive example restored to a high standard and offering pure Jet-Age luxury.

With inspections welcomed, bidding already active and the auction closing Thursday evening, Chicane Auctions’ February sale presents a rare opportunity to acquire properly vetted collector cars by a true specialist team, within a premium showroom-based auction environment — a clear point of difference in today’s market.
