THE HISTORICAL STORY
This 1971 Westfalia Camper Van was imported from South Africa Johannesburg in 2007 and shipped into Tilbury port and was driven straight to the 2007 Sandown Volksworld show where it begin its uk celebrity status.
This camper van comes with a fully documented historical story thats supports its amazing condition inside and out. Starting with the first owner Mr Dicks who bought the camper in South Africa Johannesburg on the 30th December 1971 and sold it 35years later at the grand age of 85, and for 15years of its life it was stored in the owners boiled sweet factory and was not used, hence its great condition and low mileage. The van was not used for camping in its first 35years and the bed had never been slept in up until 2008.
The campers latest celebrity moment was to star in the movie 'Kubrick by Candlelight' that was filmed at the London Shepperton Studios in Workshop 25, where it played its part in the grande finale get away scene.
To conclude this overview, I would like add that this camper van is not a historical museum piece but has been well loved and really used to the full as a family camper van, from day trips out to the coast, picnic trips and sunset park ups, to runs to the garden centre, to week long camping trips in all weathers, and has been amazing to camp at various festivals, it has brought us so much joy and this is a reluctant sale and we want it to go to a good home that it will give the same joy its given us.
