Designed by Clarence King, the first Vauxhall Princeton appeared in 1922 and had a four cylinder side valve engine driving through a three speed manual gearbox. The separate chassis had semi-elliptic springs at the front and cantilever springs at the rear. Brakes were initially on the rear wheels only, with a separate pair of shoes for the handbrake. Some 60mph was claimed for the top speed and 28mpg. Various body styles could be purchased, one of which was the four seat Princeton tourer. In 1924 the LM version appeared with higher compression engine and four speed transmission. Front brakes were added in 1926.
Supplied new to a Mr C. W. G. Ince on the 26th of April 1926 by Crow Bros., motor engineers and dealers of 180 High Street, Guildford, PF 4822 (its original registration number) is one of the later LM series cars and is smartly presented in green with contrasting green leather upholstery. The vendor describes both the coachwork and trim as all good, with paintwork also good, apart from odd marks of age. A leather trunk and rear Auster-type screen are nice additional features.
The controls are all present with central throttle, and right hand gear change. A Crow Bros. plaque adorns the dashboard and all instruments are present and working but a non-standard fuel gauge is faulty. The black mohair hood is good and there is a tonneau and sidescreens, all mohair and good. The wire wheels are said to be well shod. Mechanically the vendor affirms that all is in good order.

It is surprising what good progress can be made in this delightful Princeton Tourer. There is a wonderful sense of achievement in owning and running a vintage motor car of this type and plenty of support is on hand from the Owners Club and the Vintage Sports Car Club.
The motor car comes with a photocopy of the Crow Bros. stock book, dated 1st October 1926 to 1927, which includes this Princeton in the list, together with facsimile photographs of the Guildford showroom and premises, Vauxhall Owner Club information, invoices, technical data, drawings, ownership history from new, old MOT test certificates, the original RF60 registration book (and another), the VE60, the current V5C registration certificate, correspondence, a photocopy owners manual, road test reports, wiring diagrams and others.
