FRESHLY REBUILT, MATCHING NUMBERS AUST DEL 3L
Introduced in February 1975 the new Porsche Turbo was a truly sensible super car, competing in performance with top models from Ferrari and Lamborghini, with the legendary Porsche standards of reliability, build quality and practicality.
This Australian delivered 930 has a compliance plate dated December 1976 which would make it one of the very few 3 litre Turbos delivered new to Australia. With only 2,850 3L 930s built over their full production span, including all markets, Right Hand Drive 3.0L Turbos are incredibly rare! Records are not perfect, but indicate 74 UK delivered examples, and just 21 Australian examples produced!
For a period of time this 930 had been equipped with a later, 3.3L 930 engine, however the original 3.0L had been pulled down and safely stored in a wooden crate, awaiting a rebuild. (The 3.3L 930 engine is not supplied with the Porsche)
The 3.0lt Turbo motor underwent a comprehensive re-build by Harrisons RRR of Ferntree Gully Vic, comprising and not limited to fitment of new Pauter lightweight con rods and bearings, main shaft bearings, intermediate shaft drive gears and sprokets, cam chains and chain rails, new oil pump, new Mahle pistons and barrels, recondition of cylinder heads, new 964 cam shafts, new alternator with built in regulator, rebuilt distributor, rebuilt waste gate, and fitment of replacement overhauled K 27 Turbo charger. In addition the 4-speed Turbo gearbox had the following parts replaced: all syncros, 3rd gear dog teeth, 1st and 2nd selector slider, all bearings including both pinion bearings, gaskets and seals.
Presented in stunning silver with biscuit trim, the legendary wide hipped stance of the turbo is shown off with this colour combination to perfection. The Porsche is also features the correct steering wheel, period style Bluetooth Continental radio and is fitted with an upgraded modern air conditioning system for added comfort during the summer.
Overall this car represents a rare opportunity to purchase one of very few Australian delivered early 911 Turbos in excellent condition.
