AUSSIE A CHROME WIRES WELL DOCUMENTED

Launched in 1955 the MGA is undoubtedly one of MGs prettiest cars, and was able to take MG's sporting range into a new era, following the T Series with their pre-war inspired Running Board styling. Based on a newly designed massively rigid chassis fitted with TF suspension and steering, the 1600 benefits from a slightly larger engine claimed to produce 79.5 bhp to enhance driving pleasure and performance and front disc brakes for peace of mind.

The 1600 engine was completely stripped down and overhauled in 1999, including new pistons/rings, sports air cleaners, lightening/balancing, a sports grind for the camshaft, compression set at 9.3 to 1 and much, much more.

Further restoration was commissioned in 2007, with the MGAs cockpit finished in red vinyl with grey piping, the seats, door cards, kick panels, dash pad and rear cockpit were re-trimmed, while new carpets and a new hood were supplied and fitted. Paint & Bodywork carried out at the same time was thorough, including stripping the removable panels off the car, and taking the 1600 back to bare metal before starting the laborious task of preparing the MG for a time withstanding paint job.

The red paintwork is highlighted with chrome wire wheels and lovely brightwork and the addition of wind deflectors. The cabin is equipped with the optional Smiths heater, a period wood-rimmed steering wheel and rubber floor mats. The included weather equipment consisting of full tonneau cover, side screens and hood is in excellent condition.

This Australian MGA comes with a history file dating back to 1978 covering the restoration works as well as general maintenance and servicing, a workshop manual and an original steering wheel.
