WHY THE 380SL AND WHY THIS 380SL?
The 380SL is widely regarded as the sweet spot of the R107 range lighter by some 150kg than the 560SL and far better value (top examples of 560SLs now exceed $175,000). 380SLs, manufactured later, had significant upgrades over earlier 107s including: improved V8 Engine with lighter aluminium block, four speed transmission replacing three speed, ABS braking system, cruise control, upgraded fuel injection system, improved crash protection, and refined suspension and steering.

This car has had over $37,500 fully documented expenditure perfecting what was already an outstanding example and it shows! These models continue to appreciate in value!

OWNERSHIP HISTORY
Purchased from 3 Point Motors by Mr Hans Schmidt, a Mercedes aficionado whose 300SL Gullwing twice won the MB Vic Clubs Concours dElegance top prize, as a birthday gift to his daughter. She owned it for 20 years before purchase by long-term owner Mr Jones of Ashburton. It later joined a Melbourne collection before being acquired by the current owner five years ago.

No expense has been spared in maintaining this car in pristine condition. Included are the original 1980s sales brochure, Data Card, Owners Manual, Maintenance Booklet, and a large folder of service and maintenance costs and records - see photos.
