This 13B coupe was sold new in May 1974 from Tynan Motors Sutherland and has stayed in the one family since. Always cherished, this car remains un-modified and presents in its stunning, original condition.
It features the famous 13B Wankel rotary engine and is paired to its factory 4-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt by Road and Rotary at Bexley and offers that same release standard of performance and sound by Mazda.
Having been re-painted in DeBeer paint in its original Alexandrite Gold this car
presents beautifully for its age. This 2-door hard-top LA23S RX-4 is fitted with polished chrome inserts and mirrors and features alloy deep dished hotwire rims.
The standard interior with the only addition being a period sports steering wheel is in original condition and shows minimal wear. Its interior facier showcases the unique design these examples were released with to include a gearstick mounted mid dash to separate itself from other cars on the market.
Accompanying this vehicle are original receipts of works carried out as well as previous registration papers.
The LA23S Series Hardtop is a rarity particularly in un modified condition and are now highly collectible. Rotary Mazdas have seen tremendous growth over the last few years and one presenting in this condition will make a sound addition to any collection.
After the success of Mazdas R100, Rx2 and Rx3s and their piston powered equivalents, Mazda produced the Rx-4 with luxury-performance in mind that saw a successful sales volume in the USA. A larger, better equipped car than its predecessors, offered in 3 body variants Sedan, Station wagon and Hardtop Coupe and a choice of either 12A or 13B Rotary engines.
