HSV 92 VP SENATOR - VR GTS Pre Production Prototype
PP30 is a genuine, authenticated Holden/HSV engineering development car with a hand-built prototype Holden/Harrop HSV 215i 5.7lt Tremec 6 speed manual stroker V8 that was the prototype for the VR Series GTS and then VS-GTSR.
PP30 is an unmolested and unrestored, original condition survivor that is a significant piece of the earliest history of HSV, confirmed by John McInerney (HSV), Warwick Bryce (HEC) and the late Brad Dunstan (HSV). Authentication documents and records, and provenance are available for the genuine buyer to see. This absolutely unique car is for the serious HSV collector.
From 1992 to 1997, PP30 was used throughout the engineering development of the HSV VP, VR and VSGTSR models. Modifications included the hand built 215i harrop stroker engine, tremec 6 speed manual gearbox, hydratrak LSD and twin piston premium brakes and level ride. See publication: Holden Special Vehicles, The Innovators, 1991-1995; The 215i Story - Genesis of the 215i.
Nearly 5 years after it was delivered to HSV and well into the development of VT models, PP30 was given its genuine HSV identification plate ENG.DEVT.SENATOR Build No PP30 stamped 25th June 1997. HSV sold PP30 unregistered and with no engine number to Star Performance in November 1997. During Peter Starrs ownership, the car was legitimized, given a new engine number by Victoria Police, and registered. Peter Starr sold PP30 to Daniel Grima in 2004. Daniel sold the car to Scott Liewes in 2008. Scott obtained a new RWC and renewed the registration which he eventually cancelled in 2012. I acquired PP30 in 2016.
Other than some irregular use as a daily drive for a couple of years after 2008, PP30 is still in the same condition as it was when it left HSV in 1997. She has done less than 9,000km in the last 11 years. She is in pretty good condition for a girl her age, starts first time every time, sounds incredible and is very exciting to drive!
