Rarely do cars become available as special as this car. A super special car with only two knowns in existence which is almost unheard of. Originally built for Mr. Max Wilson who at the time was the Area Director General for General Motors Asia Pacific and a former Managing Director for GM. Prior to delivery to Max Wilson the Caprice Coupe was used as a special exhibit car on the GM stand at the Melbourne and the Sydney Motor Shows. The design as well as all the modifications to the car were conducted entirely by and within General Motors Holdens Design Department, Technical Centre, Fishermans Bend, Victoria. Both cars were with the same configuration of 5.0 litre V8 engine, TH400 transmission, power steering, air conditioning, power front disc brakes, 2.78:1 rear axle, vinyl roof and finally a sunroof. These two cars were fitted exclusively fitted with all Statesmen appointments such as, front sheet metal as Caprice sedan: including hood, front fenders, bumper bar, headlamps, grille, and stand-up hood ornament. Boot lid, Wheel covers, Badging, Body pin-striping and vinyl top material colour matched to the exterior paintwork Sienna metallic exterior colour. The interior also received the full Statesmen treatment including a Statesmen Caprice instrument cluster, steering wheel, Sienna colour-coded seats, door trims, carpet, headliner, and a host of other Statesmen extra being woodgrain inserts and badging. This Caprice Coupe was sold to its first public owner in March of 1976 via Suttons, Homebush and has been lovingly cared for ever since without any modifications. The car is a true piece of Holden motoring history and is simply impossible to replace. One for the Holden collector or museum and now available for viewing at our Kogarah facility. Be sure to grab yourself a copy of Issue 321 of Just Cars magazine to see a full feature on this very unique Holden also!
