AUCTION - 1968 HOLDEN MONARO HK GTS 327 BATHURST

This restored 1968 Holden HK Monaro GTS 327 is a great example of one of Australias most iconic muscle cars. Finished in its factory-correct Bright Blue Metallic (code 587-1764) over a black vinyl interior (code 10X), this Monaro has been nicely restored with a ground-up restoration of nearly all mechanicals, interior and exterior pieces.

DRIVELINE
Under the bonnet lies a 1968 era correct Tonawanda built Chevrolet 327 V8 (Casting 3941660, dated 12 March 1968) presented in factory 250hp specification. This high torque small-block V8 is paired with matching Saginaw close-ratio 4-speed manual gearbox, celebrated for its sharp, precise shifts. Delivering power to the rear wheels is the 10-bolt Posi-traction limited-slip differential, all reportedly rebuilt together with all suspension and brakes items during the cars restoration. This powertrain and driveline combination gave the GTS 327 its legendary performance and cemented the Monaro as a Bathurst-winning machine.

EXTERIOR
Presented in factory code Bright Blue Metallic, this Monaro looks stunning from every angle. The shinning finish accentuates the cars sweeping coupe profile, complemented by factory black striping and striking chrome details front and rear. The 327 badging proudly underscores its pedigree, while its muscular stance serves as a reminder that it was built to handle. The original style wheels and hubcaps are complete with near new BF Goodrich Silvertown redline tyres. Inspection is recommended to assess the extent of some imperfections in the paintwork, as some preparation issues have emerged in the paint, that are not visible in photos. A fantastic looking car, that may be arguably Holdens best looking 2 door design.

INTERIOR
The interior of the 1968 Holden Monaro HK GTS 327 is a masterclass in late-1960s Australian muscle car design, combining racing style with understated elegance. Finished in factory-correct black vinyl (trim code 1153-10X), the cabin features its nicely bolstered bucket seats that provide both comfort and support, complemented by matching door trims and a distinctive woodgrain-accented dash that houses the iconic GTS instrument cluster. The Woodgrain GTS steering wheel and four speed shifter reinforce the cars performance character, while chrome highlights and detailed switchgear reflect Holdens attention to detail. Every element, from the padded crash pad to the bright GTS badging, was designed to remind drivers they were sitting in something special. All presented in great condition.
