Two-Owner Survivor 1967 XR Fairmont 289 Windsor V8 in Sultan Maroon. One family owner for 50 years. Now for sale from Perth, WA.
Full matching numbers 1967 XR Ford Fairmont factory 289 Windsor V8 sold new from Billabong Motors in Lockhart, NSW. One family owned for nearly 50 years before being acquired by the current Ford enthusiast owner in early 2016.
The Fairmont presents as a very honest survivor. The interior is unrestored and remains in its 'day 1' configuration, still featuring the original factory carpet, hood lining, dash and Parchment trim. The exterior was repainted in the original Sultan Maroon metallic in the late 1990s.
While the exterior was refreshed, the car still retains its original factory paint in the engine bay, the boot, and inside all door jams. The body is very straight and shows no signs of rust. The chrome work is original and a set of Mint-condition New Old Stock (NOS) hubcaps were fitted about ten years ago.
A significant feature of this Fairmont is the collection of original paperwork and items supplied with the car when new. This includes:
o The original owner's manualo An XR-specific dealer delivery brochure and accessories brochureso An XR-specific factory workshop manualo The original set of keys in their leather pouch, plus a spare set
Mechanically, the Fairmont is in good working order and has been serviced regularly during the current owner's tenure. Prior to 2016, several major mechanical items were addressed, including:
o A full rebuild of the original Cruisomatic transmission by Bullet Transmissions (fitted with upgraded bands and a NOS kick-down cable)o A rebuild of the original radiator and heater coreo New front brake pads and master cylinder work
