The Ferrari 275 GTS was revealed at the 1964 Paris Auto Show, alongside its hard top name-sake, the 275 GTB. Although in terms of appearance the two cars are clearly distinguishable, mechanically they both utilise a similar 3.3-litre Colombo V12 as well as similar chassis and suspension set-ups. The 275 GTS was the replacement for the outgoing 250 GT Series II Cabriolet and was mainly intended for the US market, where the success of high-performance Grand Touring cabriolets had long been established. Furthermore, the 275 GTS is in fact a much rarer vehicle than its Berlinetta sibling, with only 200 examples being made in a short production period. The car we are delighted to offer was built in Maranello in 1965 with Rosso paint over a Nero interior and was the 32nd car produced out of a total of 200. Joe Macari Performance Cars sourced the car in 2016 and swiftly sent it to be restored in Maranello. No expense or time was spared on this ground up, nut and bolt, restoration at the factory. The car was re-painted from Rosso to Rubino, probably the finest colour for a classic Ferrari to wear. The car was awarded Ferrari Classiche Certification in early 2018, certifying the restoration's authenticity. In accompaniment to the sale, the car comes with a period tool roll, jack, spare wheel and Nero tonneau cover. There is also a period spare part's catalogue, Classiche Folder, and, of course, a professionally collated photograph album of the restoration. This perfect condition, matching engine example is one of the finest available on the market and would make a great addition to any collection.
