This 1967 Chevrolet Nova is a multi award winning pro touring style resto-mod creation built by Rob Beauchamp. Rob has built a number of award winning cars, most famously a US Pro street style VL that won the Top Street Machine Overall at the first two Summernats. Being no stranger to high end builds, the Nova has won many awards and the car was featured in Street Machine Magazine in August of 2011.
The concept for the car was to build a show quality 60s street car that drove and handled like a modern vehicle and had all of the modern features. What evolved is the car you see today, essentially the fusion of a CV8 Monaro with a 67 Nova. It would be easy to dismiss this car as a Nova with an LS swap and a commodore interior however the reality of the engineering in the car is far greater than that.
The car was stripped to a bare shell and a huge amount of research went into sourcing appropriate donor vehicles for all the parts required. The body of the Nova had the entire floor pan removed and replaced with a Commodore floor pan. Every panel of the Nova has adjusted and subtlety tweaked to the point where only the roof and tops of the rear quarters remain as original items. The subtle upgrades like the moulded boot spoiler, while overlooked by most people, give the car a slightly more modern feel while maintaining the look of a classic 60s muscle car. The car was painted with a show quality, silky coat of Sting Red which looks so deep that you could fall into it.
Under the bonnet is a factory spec 5.7L LS engine with only cosmetic upgrades to ensure maximum reliability. This is paired to a 4L60e Automatic transmission. The car was built to handle 40-degree heat with the air con on and not have the radiator pop. Incredibly, it's retained all of the commodore modern the safety features like ABS and traction control. RRS suspension in Sydney hand made a one off set of struts for the car. The rear cradle is a narrowed commodore item. Everything in it works like a brand new car, and for all intents and purposes it's as easy to work on as a late-model Commodore. Residing in the widened and lengthened wheel arches are specially made Bonspeed billet wheels that Brad Fanshaw in the US customised with structural changes and a unique offset to Rob's specs.

Inside, most of the interior is modified VZ Monaro although the dash is a VX item. The trim has been wrapped in custom red leather on the seats and black with red highlights on the door trims and dash. Again, everything works as it should, the indicators stalk, air conditioning controls, cruise control, power windows, steering wheel buttons etc. Sitting inside the car you wouldn't know you were driving a 60s car with all the luxuries and comfort of a modern vehicle.

The final product of all of this hard work is a show quality resto-mod 67 Nova that provides the best of both worlds. The build was undertaken with a no expense spared attitude and the results show through in the finished product. A super reliable weekend toy with all the mod cons for someone or drive it everyday and be the coolest guy or gal on the block.
