IMPROVED BJ8
Introduced in April of 1965, the Phase III BJ8 (3000 MkIII) was the Final Production Austin Healey Model. The Interior Trim was Updated to a More Luxurious Standard, with a Burr Walnut Veneer dash, Wind Up Windows, and a 'One Touch' Convertible Hood with Zip-Out Rear Window. The performance from the 150hp 3 Litre 6 Cylinder Engine was a Far Cry from the 90hp 2.6 Litre 4 Cylinder Engine of the first Austin Healey, the 100 introduced in 1952.
This 3000 Mk111 finished in Old English White with Complimentary Red Interior, Sparkling Chrome Wire Wheels and Good Brightwork presents very well. The Cockpit Interior is as Original, including the Optional Smiths Heater and BMC PushButton Radio. The only Non-Standard Addition is the Period Style Moto-Lita WoodRim Steering Wheel. The One Touch Hood is in Black Vinyl whilst the Tonneau Cover is in Quality Black Fabric.
There have been a number of very Sensible Upgrades made to the Healey to Improve its Usability. An Alternator replaces the original generator and Starting is Greatly Improved with a Modern Hi-Torque Starter Motor and Scorcher Electronic Ignition. Engine Servicing is Easier with the addition of a Spin-On Oil Filter Conversion. Improved Engine Cooling is achieved with an Electric Water Pump, a Texas Kooler Engine Driven Fan, and a Thermostatically Controlled Electric Cooling Fan. The Front and Rear Suspension have been Improved with the fitting of Telescopic Shock Absorbers which Greatly Improve the Ride Quality.
The most recent owner enjoyed further improving the Healey during his 17 years of ownership. This makes the BJ8 a Reliable Ideal Tourer with its Long Legged Cruising Ability, whilst still delivering Great Period Performance. An Iconic model of the Austin Healey marque to be enjoyed to the fullest by its new owner.
