According to the late Roger Stowers, Historian based at AML in Newport Pagnell who used to conduct the factory tours, there were 17 sets of DBSV8 badges remaining in stock from the David Brown years, which were fitted to the front wings of the first Aston Martin V8S from April 1972. These first 288 fuel injection Astons are now referred to as series II cars. After the departure of Sir David Brown from the company the first chassis number of the new AMV8 series II was V8/10501/RCA, which would make this car, chassis number V8/10518/RCA the first ever fully badged Aston Martin V8.

I have owned the car for the past 23 years and am selling to fund a building project. As such you are buying the car from someone who knows it inside and out. The car has an interesting history with service and MOT documents back to the mid eighties proving its authentic 68,000 mileage. The car was upgraded to Vantage specification by a former disabled owner Roger Ayres of Folkstone in the early eighties and fitted with hand controls, and was well known to the Aston Martin Owners Club as a very quick car. The car was re-sprayed at that time from Londsdale yellow to its present jet black colour.

In my 23 years of ownership I have spent over £40,000 keeping the car mechanically sound and running well, including a Harvey Bailey suspension upgrade and looking good with a full re-spray in 2008. I also have service invoices from the three previous owners dating back to 1986.

The car has always been mechanically reliable, as testified by the fact that it competed in the Gumball 3000 rally in 2001 to Russia, completing some 3.500 miles in 5 days.

This car is great fun to drive and if pushed can still provide a truly visceral driving experience in a great looking and rare, classic Aston Martin.
