Desirable Aussies on the block tonight

Eclectic mix of cars at Shannons

There’s a broad mix of machinery on offer at tonight’s Shannons Sydney auction, with this red Pacer (lot 45) among the most striking.

The auction house says the car is listed on the Pacer Registry and underwent a comprehensive restoration nine years ago.

The warmed-up 225 six is fed by triple Webers, runs a four-speed manual and, if it goes as well as it looks, it should be a fun drive.

Other Aussies worth watching out for are a very tidy-looking EJ Holden Premier (lot 42) carrying a $24-28,000 estimate and a black 1962 Falcon ute (lot 36) with a V8 in the snout which the company says may go for around $18-24,000.

From Europe there’s a Porsche 930 turbo (lot 54) that’s estimated at $160-185,000 and is sure to see some strong competition for the keys. A 2005 BMW M3 (lot 51), with the 3.2lt six and a six-speed manual, boasts the competition package and is estimated at $60-70,000.

The star lot is a 1971 Ferrari Dino (lot 71) which is beyond the budget of most at $620-680,000. Still, we’re seeing people spend that sort of money on numberplates (and there are many on offer at this auction) so a classic exotic seems like a good alternative.

If you were looking for a hero Australian lot, the 1977 Torana A9X (lot 70) would have to be it, with an estimate of $200-250,000.

The fun kicks off tonight at 7.00pm.
