2022 Market Review - Datsun Sports 1964-1983
One Fairlady 1500 offered at massive money and a couple of 2000 Sports in need of work have flipped the open-top Datsun market. However, $60,000 still buys an excellent 2.0-litre car, with four-cylinder soft-tops $20,000 less.
The money being asked for Zeds remains high, even though the international auction market has been quiet. The cars likely to deliver long-term gains will still be locally delivered, two-seat, five-speed 240 or 260Zs in authentic colours and with minimal modifications.
These currently cost $75-90,000, with the Japanese-spec Fairlady Z a little more. As a ‘family’ classic,’ 260Z 2+2s in good condition at $40,000 and 280ZXs for $30,000 offer value.
Fairlady/1600 $85,000 (1)
2000 Sports $36,900 (3)
240Z $82,425 (7)
Fairlady Z $108,975 (4)
260Z $72,700 (7)
260Z 2+2 $52,795 (3)
280ZX $31,690 (10)
