Chevrolet Corvette C3s are one of those cars that can create just as much confusion as confidence, because the C3 designation covers a few different body styles and the transition away from chrome bumper.
Built 1968 to 1982, the Stingray style has aged surprisingly well and still turns heads today.
The series began with chrome bumpers on both ends, and these are the ones that are valuable – particularly since C2 prices have gone sky high. By the time this example was built, the body style had subtly changed and chrome bumpers were considered old-fashioned.
This actually presents a bit of an opportunity for muscle car buyers who aren’t overly concerned about the whole chome bumper thing. You can get an American two-seater with a big V8 in the snout for relatively modest money.
This 1979 car is a good example. The owner says some $70k has been spent on it. In any case the bodywork looks fairly fresh and we’re told the interior is done out in leather. Air-con and power steering are part of the package.
The engine bay hosts the ubiquitous 350-cube (5.7lt) V8 with a three-speed auto.
Located in Brisbane, the seller is asking $24,000.
