Big, small, Brit, Euro or American - they're all there
Shannons Auctions reckons now is as good a time as any to get yourself a ragtop in preparation for Summer.
The company’s upcoming Sydney auction, on August 29, headlines with a fleet of convertibles, with a humble Anglia at one end of the scale and a giant 1952 Cadillac at the other.
Here’s what the company has to say: Some of the standout convertibles on offer include a 1963 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Series 1 Roadster, a 1957 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe, a rare and beautiful Mercedes-Benz 1965 300SE Cabriolet and a 1988 BMW 320i ‘Alpina Enhanced’ Convertible.
Also offered with ‘No Reserve’ is a gorgeous 1967 Sunbeam Alpine MkV and a rare ‘Surrey Top’ 1968 Triumph TR5.
It’s not all about drop-top motoring, though. There are two traffic-stopping American cruisers going up for sale, each reportedly costing $200,000 to build. The candy apple red 1949 Buick Super ‘Custom’ Sedanette (LHD) and two-tone 1955 Buick Super Riviera ‘Custom’ Hardtop Coupe (LHD) are in stunning, show-ready condition and feature work by internationally renowned Australian craftsman, Justin Hills.
Other very impressive lots include a 1969 Shelby GT500 Mustang (LHD) that was one of six delivered new to Japan, an Australian-delivered 1929 Rolls-Royce 20/25 ‘Martin & King‘ Coupe, a genuine ‘Pace Car Limited Edition’ 1978 Chevrolet Corvette (RHD), a 1956 Holden FJ Special Sedan with just 30,000 miles from new, and a one-owner 1970 Holden HG Monaro GTS 253 V8 Coupe.
