Chicane Auctions – “Melbourne’s premium classic car auction showroom”

By Daniel Lamprell – Chicane Auctions managing director

In a market where presentation, provenance and professionalism matter more than ever, Chicane Auctions continues to set the benchmark as Melbourne’s Premium Showroom Auction House.

Every vehicle at Chicane is physically displayed and professionally presented in the showroom for inspection. For interstate bidders, the Chicane team are available for detailed chats about every car and item required.

All cars are treated as automotive artwork — properly lit, properly photographed and properly represented with full descriptions — ensuring buyers can bid with confidence knowing the vehicle and vendors achieve optimal results.

Importantly, Chicane Auctions operates on its signature no cost to sell model.

Vendors retain 100 per cent of the hammer price, with no seller commissions or listing fees.

It is a structure that continues to attract premium consignments and informed sellers who understand the value of professional representation without financial penalty.

FEATURED NEW ENTRY – APRIL AUCTION

AC COBRA by RMC

One of the standout new entries for the April Auction is this striking 2005 AC Cobra by RMC — a professionally-built example by highly-respected AC Cobra specialist Laurie Bongailas.

Finished in deep gloss black with iconic silver Le Mans stripes, this Cobra presents with exceptional visual impact. Chrome work throughout is bright and detailed, contrasting beautifully against the dark paintwork, while the stance is purposeful and aggressive courtesy of large Halibrand-style wheels wrapped in high quality Avon tyres.

Mechanically, this is no ordinary slapped up replica. Power comes from an fuel injected Ford 347 cubic inch ‘stroker’ Windsor V8 fitted with high performance alloy cylinder heads – delivering sharp throttle response and serious performance credentials. The engine is paired with a Tremec T5 short-shift manual gearbox, offering direct, mechanical engagement true to the Cobra ethos.

Underneath, the specification continues to impress with independent suspension at all four corners and four-wheel disc brakes, ensuring the performance matches the visual theatre. It is very much a turn-key and enjoy machine – equally at home on a weekend cruise, stretching its legs on a spirited country run or entered into a club show or sprint event.

The professionally upholstered cream interior is finished with Cobra insignia detailing and presents in excellent condition, along with its white faced classic style ‘autometer’ gauges reinforcing the quality of the overall build. The cabin strikes the right balance between classic styling and usable refinement.

Importantly, this example is currently on full Victorian registration, making it immediately usable for its next custodian.

Built by a recognised Cobra specialist and highly presented from top to bottom, this RMC represents exceptional value in today’s market.
