Strong buying here, though the later cars are the better drive.
Chevrolet Corvette C4 1984-1996
If you don’t have much to spend but want a sports car that turns heads and delivers decent performance, get into an early C4 Corvette.
Cars that sell for less than $20,000 will usually require the driver to sit nearest to the gutter and accept some body blemishes.
1988-90 models that have been here for a while will be RHD converted and cost around $30,000.
Mechanical simplicity means that Vettes of this age won’t cost a whole lot to maintain either.
Later cars with their six-speed gearbox will be better to drive than a 1984-87 model with its ‘4+3’ manual.
Even if you choose a mid-1990s car in outstanding order it probably won’t go above $50,000.
Corvette 1984-87 $23,200 [23]
