2021 Market Review - Chevrolet Corvette 1954-1982
First-Generation Corvettes are being offered locally for 20-35 per cent more than equivalent US cars would cost to buy and import.
One fuel injected C1 was locally priced at almost Au$400k and even single carb cars reach $200,000. Similar money will buy a small-block C2 roadster in outstanding condition or a big-block coupe needing some work. Chrome-bumper 1968-73 models justify $70,000, with extra available for big block cars.
Genuine 427s will cost considerably more. As the 1970s roll by, the cost of owning a Gen. 3 Corvette diminishes and by the time we see the final-series 1982 cars – there were no 1983 models – the cost of a good example will have dipped into the $30,000s.
1978 Pace Cars and Anniversary models are worth more.
