2021 Market Review - Chevrolet 1955-1960
If you look at the prices asked locally for 1950s Chevs and think ‘that’s nuts’ then pop online and have a look at the money being splurged in the USA on very similar cars. Aussie ones, even when priced at more than $100K, are cheap by comparison when all import costs are added, and our market has some truly exceptional cars.
Finding a factory stock Bel-Air Hardtop can be difficult and such cars can cost $120-150,000. Locally delivered sedans that manage to retain their original six-cylinder/three-speed manual drivetrain are scarce too, and purists might pay $70,000 for one of these. 1958-60 Chevs with V8 engines (original or added) make roomy family cruisers and are easily maintained.
Sedans still cost less than $50,000, with Impala or Bel-Air two-doors at $65-80,000.
