Family classic
While Aussie muscle cars from the 1960s and 70s are out of reach for many, the standard models on which they were based remain affordable.
Take the Jack Telnack penned XA Falcon that sold between March 1972 and September 1973.
All-Australian with a new look inside and out, the Falcon 500 sold as a sedan, wagon and coupe.
Most 500s sport either the 3.3lt or 4.1lt straight six with a column auto and bench seats front and back.
The mechanicals are robust, but not the bodies as rust-proofing wasn’t much chop.
But with almost 130,000 built, it shouldn’t be that difficult to snare one for between $15-$35 grand. Worth a look as a starter classic.
