Lots of car for the money
Just to prove that coupes come in all shapes and sizes, we bring you one of our favourites: a 1972 Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
If ever a car screamed the seventies, this is it. Though only a two-door, it will dwarf most other toys on the road, and we like it for that flamboyance.
This was a hugely successful era for Cadillac. Between this and the Sedan de Ville, it sold over 267,000 cars that year – pretty good for what was a high-end model.
While the ad is a little short on detail, this example should be running the big 472ci (7.7lt) V8, which is pretty bulletproof and claimed a fairly modest 220 horses at a lazy 3800rpm and 495Nm of torque at just 2400rpm. While it may not be an outright speed demon, it should get off the line pretty welll.
The interior looks a little tired but complete, while the body seems to be in decent shape. Given its age, you’d want to do the usual checks for rust and repairs.
A host of mechanical work is listed by the seller and the odometer reading of just under 110,000 miles suggests it should be a long way from worn out. It’s being sold in Queensland (near Brisbane), registered and with a roadworthy certificate for $27,250. See it here.
