2021 Market Review - Volvo 1961-2008

Volvo’s 1800 coupes took decades to receive proper market recognition and since that occurred the money being paid on world markets has soared.

Which Volvo might be next to surge is debatable but the 122S and 242GT both have claims to motor sporting success, while a 244 chased three Commodores home in the 1979 Repco Trial.

Buyer's Guide: Volvo 1800S/1800E

None of these will cost any more than $20,000 and the 244 or the later 240 can be found in good condition for $8000. 740 Turbos are almost all gone but later 850 T5s and the sporty 850-R offer value at $20-25,000.

For fun in a family vehicle at $10K or so, try an S80 sedan or the sportier attributes of a C70 convertible.
