2021 Market review - Volkswagen Golf/Eos/Passat 1974-2009

An interesting mix here including some models that fit the mould of ‘future classics’.

The R32 Golf with its punchy V6 and all-wheel drive is great fun at sensible money, but then a turbo Golf GTi is equally enjoyable and cheaper.

The open-top EOS and 1990s Karmann-bodied Cabrio fulfill their occupants’ need for Vitamin B and decent examples still cost less than $10,000. 1970s-80s GTis weren’t sold new in Australia and any that appear will be priced to reflect offshore values.

Older Passats are close to extinction, but the name has survived and R36 versions at under $20,000 offer fun in an everyday driver.

Golf Cabriolet 1990-96 $5900 [6]

Golf GTi 1999-2005 $11,375 [19]

Golf GTi 2006-10 $12,780 [25]

Golf R32 2006-09 $20,835 [11]

EOS 2007-10 $12,870 [17]

Passat R36 $19,475 [15]
