2021 Market Review - Mercedes-Benz SL/SLK/CLK 1990-2006

If anyone is in doubt that high-value Mercedes-Benz cars suffer appalling levels of retained value, check the range of models that once cost $200,000+ and can now be bought for less than $50,000.

The thundering SL500 that was a $299,000 dream when new becomes way more accessible at $45,000. So does CLK55 that 20 years ago would have cost $195,000 and now sits in dealer yards and private driveways at $25K.

Less exotic but available and not expensive at all are CLK230 and 320 two doors - with or without the convertible top - at $8500-12,500 in well-kept condition.

Also from the 1990s we see lots of SLK sports cars that in sub-100,000km condition, cost $15-18,000.

500SL (R129) $35,350 [15]

CLK230 $9915 [9]

CLK320 Coupe $11,725 [19]

CLK430/CLK500 $19,725 [19]

CLK55 2000-05 $30,995 [3]

SLK230 1997-02 $13,745 [14]
