Holden HK-HG V8/Premier/Brougham - market review

By: Cliff Chambers, Unique Cars magazine

The quality of what's on offer has been a problem for Premiers though the Brougham offerings have been right up there in recent times.

Usually reliable sources this time failed to produce any exceptional HK-HG V8 Premiers.

More disappointing was that cars on offer were generally of ordinary quality and below the $25-30,000 that one of these should generate.

Equally unexpected was an above average crop of Broughams with some asking prices above $60,000.

Typical cars have a way to go before reaching those heights but $35,000 is realistic.

Among the Kingswoods sampled was a White Hot HT model, with the correct 253 V8, at $35,000.

HK-HG utes and panel vans are hard to find, particularly those that were originally built with V8 engines, as opposed to receiving transplants later in life.

HK-HG V8 $13,255 [19]

HK Premier V8 $25,000 [1]

HT-HG Premier V8 $26.780 [5]

HK-HG Brougham $35,915 [10]
