They’re the only business in Australia just specialising in wire wheels and accessories. The company is the Australian importer for Dunlop wire wheels, which are the original replacement units for all British sports cars. They’re also the Australian importers for LA Custom Wire Wheels for more modern and muscle cars.

“Most of our customers are people who are either restoring their car or just want to improve their classic car,” frontman Paul Zazryn says, “Or they’re enthusiasts looking to customise or improve their ride.”

With over 40 years in the trade, Paul Zazryn knows his cars. He started and ran a large classic car business specialising in Jaguars for 25 years and has spent the last 13 years as the sole agent for Dunlop wire wheels in Australia. He is a classic car and historic racing enthusiast and races a historic Formula 5000.

ACWW is unique in that it specialises in wire wheels and accessories such as splined hubs, spinners, hammers, cleaning kits and some classic tyres and tubes. They carry a massive inventory of up to 2000 wheels, so it isn’t often that your new wire wheels can’t be supplied straight away from stock. Because of their experience in the classic car scene there’s a great knowledge base of classic cars to re-assure you’re not dealing with rookies, and Paul can either answer most questions off the top of his head or knows someone who can. “We can relate to our customers because we’ve been in the trade for yonks” he says.

“We’re constantly developing our website so customers can easily view and even purchase our products from the comfort of their own home. Of course our idea of an easy-to-use website and the website designer’s idea are usually poles apart, so it is a constant modifying process until we can agree!”

When asked about second-hand wire wheels, Paul’s answer is that they have usually been replaced for a reason and often because they are old and troublesome.

“Quite often they are the original wheels off the car and can be 50 years old!” Wheels and tyres are the most important part of your car according to Zazryn, and yet people can be tempted to skimp on quality. Safety aside, wheels and tyres will determine how well your classic drives and there is nothing worse than shaking, rattling and rolling oversteer.
