1970 Boss 302 and matching transporter sell for AU$126,000 on eBay

Make a statement at the racetrack with this awesome matching combo!

Historic racers and fans of America’s Trans Am series will be drooling over this racecar and truck combo just sold on eBAY in the US.

A genuine 1970 Boss 302 Mustang along with a matching Ford C-800 cab-over transporter were sold for AU$126,263 (US$81,700).

The Boss 302 is heralded as one of the greats amongst the expansive Mustang pantheon, with our most recent Buyer’s Guide pegging values around $90,000 and $125,000 for “good” and “excellent” examples respectively.

That actually makes this combo deal seem quite reasonable once you throw in the awesome truck!

While this is a genuine and original 1970 Boss 302 Mustang however, it is no factory standard example. Using period Trans Am documents published by Ford Motor Company, the 302 Mustang was built to exacting period specifications, faithfully mimicking the #16 car piloted by US racing royalty Parnelli Jones. The car features a Ford 9-inch locker rear axle, Top Loader close-ratio four-speed manual gearbox and a custom fabricated Bud Moore-spec air box and intake.

The Ford C-series truck is a 1986 model, and originally earned its living as part of the Pennsylvanian fire department. A custom bed was added featuring diamond plate surfacing and a power winch, and is powered by a 634ci Caterpillar diesel V8 matched to a ten-speed manual transmission.

The eye-catching pairing were last sold back in 2011 when it was listed at AU$224,000 (US$145,000). So we imagine the new owner must be thrilled!
