Join us for a quick walk-around of an exceptional display
The National Motor Racing Museum at the base of the legendary Mount Panormama circuit in Bathurst has a remarkable depth of material on display.
Much of it is in memory of Peter Brock, including the Bronze statue outside and an entire room dedicated to touring and super cars.
However there are some surprises, such as a strong display of speedway four and two-wheelers.
There is also an eclectic mix of motorcycles, including Wayne Gardner’s 1987 Honda NSR500 Grand Prix machine.
Speaking of motorcycle racers who crossed over into cars, Gregg Hansford is also honoured with a dedicated display.
Several early Bathurst contenders are on display, including a couple of MkI Cortinas, a Bellet and a Holden EH S4.
The highlight for many will be the room full of hero touring cars, including the pair of Falcon hardtops that took the famous 1-2 victory in 1977, the winning Perkins Castrol Commodore, some Goss and Richards machines plus of course a row of former Brock cars.
Make sure you put a bit of time aside for this, as there is a wealth of historical video on show that’s worth seeing.
You can find out more at the musem’s website.
We wandered in there as part of our Kingswood run – try #kingswoodcountrytour on Facebook.
