Uncle Phil’s Choice Picks – Issue 508

In every edition of Unique Cars Magazine car loving columnist Phil Walker scans through what’s for sale and offers up a few choice picks for his fellow car lover readers to ogle and add to the shopping list. Here’s a few from Issue 508…

TOP PICK:  1977 Holden HX Premier – $58,000

1977 Holden HX Premier. Image: TradeUniqueCars.com.au There were almost as many HX Holdens as there are trees in Australia, such was the popularity of the General’s big family car. Every street and almost every driveway had a Holden lurking in it. The Premier was a favourite with buyers who had more cash to splash and here we have one ordered new by an enthusiast, given its rare spec. A 308 V8 in its snout, paired with a four-speed manual and inside a GTS dash. A genuine survivor with matching-numbers engine, rails, tags, and a very original car. The ad claims it’s very clean, straight, dry and lived life in inland Victoria. It retains its original Mandarin red paint that is showing some age after 48 years. Inside, the  chamois and black trim has been reupholstered and it has new door cards, seatbelts and carpets. The adjective ‘unique’ gets bandied about a lot, but a Premier in this factory spec certainly rates as one and I reckon you’ll struggle to find another like it. Check out the listing here Read More
