Mustang owners can now get factory approved parts for their ponies
Ford Australia has announced that Aussie Mustang owners will be able to not only purchase Ford Performance parts through their local Ford dealer, but also have them fitted with a factory-backed warranty.
“The Ford Mustang is one of the world’s most customised sports cars, and we’re paying homage to both the rich heritage of Mustang as well as answering massive demand for factory-approved, fully-warranted performance parts for Australian Mustang owners,” says Ford Australia CEO Graeme Whickman.
These performance parts include a new stainless steel 2.5-inch mandrel-bent cat-back exhaust system, 4-inch exhaust tips in either chrome or black, track handling pack, street lowering springs and a short-shift kit with Ford Performance gear knob.
“This is the first time in Mustang’s five-decade history that an Australian consumer can take delivery of this iconic performance car with a full suite of upgrades straight off the showroom floor,” adds Whickman.
“Even better, the benefit of these upgrades not only gives new Mustang buyers a chance to customise their own vehicle, but also extends to existing owners, who can have their local dealer fit any or all of these components to their own taste and desires.”
The track handling pack, codenamed FR3-M9, includes lowering springs, front struts, upper strut mounts, rear shocks, sway bars, rear toe links and toe-to-knuckle bearings. The track handling pack is, as the name suggests, designed to cater to the Mustang owner who daily drives their pony but also wants to take it to a track day every now and then.
Speaking about the FR3-M9 handling pack, Ford Performance testing engineer Andy Vrenko commented, “We wanted to make a product that would be completely unique and special for this car.
“So we used production processes and production suppliers, and we developed parts that are engineered and tuned for this car and our performance goals. This kit is unique, and none of the parts are available anywhere else.”
According to Ford, all the of the performance parts have been comprehensively tested in Australia to make sure that the parts are right for Aussie driving conditions and comply with ADR regulations.
Customers who order the performance parts with the purchase of a new Mustang will get a three year, 100,000km, warranty from Ford, which matches the vehicles warranty. Customers who already own a Mustang and want the performance goodies will get a warranty on the parts equal to the remaining warranty on their Mustang, or a 12 month, 20,000km warranty, whichever comes first.
