A 1965 Toyota Landcruiser FJ45, 1974 HQ Holden Statesman De Ville and 1974 Holden Premier HQ that were the pride and joy of Queensland businessman Ian Mundell are now on the market.
Ian, who, with his family, ran Ironfarmers Parts and Machinery on the outskirts of Rockhampton for decades, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2019.
Two of his cars, the Landcruiser and HQ Premier, were rebuilt from the ground up in support of pancreatic cancer charity Pankind, which Ian and his wife Judi supported as ambassadors for several years.
The orchid pink Premier was named “Avner” in honour of the original Avner Foundation that became Pankind. Ian and Judi attended numerous rural events where the car became a central part of a display encouraging country people to get themselves checked for pancreatic cancer.
The FJ45 was finished in early 2023 and named ‘Caroline the Pankind Cruiser.’
Sadly, Ian passed away in November 2023, and his meticulously maintained cars will be auctioned by Ray White Rural Gracemere from Oct 31 to Nov 5 at nasco.bidsonline.com.au – Ironfarmers Final Clearance Sale.
The Landcruiser is a 3-seater utility with a 3-speed manual gearbox and a petrol engine.
The Statesman is a 5-seater with the V8 (308) and 70,392kms on the odometer.
The Premier HQ has the 6-cylinder (202) engine and is a 3-speed automatic with 144,067km on the clock.
