The auction world is full of surprises, with big numbers and the odd bargain. Here are some of the highlights
1967 Maserati Mexico 4.2

A beautiful and rare 1960s four-seat grand tourer. The Mexico has a 4.2-litre quad cam V8, five-speed manual rear wheel drive combo, delivering a good deal of poke. It was the first Mazza fitted with servo-assisted all wheel disc brakes.
This is one of 480 believed to be produced, that sold between 1966 and 1972. After living in the US most of its life it arrived here in around 2013 and underwent a resto. It has been cared for by the vendor for the past 10 years.
1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible

While many Aussie muscle cars remain out of reach, the US still more affordable pickings like this Firebird. In its snout lies a 350ci V8 tied to an auto box and since it underwent a nut and bolt resto with a new floor pan, front panels and many mechanical parts it’s ready to enjoy.

Did Santa leave you a sack of money to go and buy this? A two fastidious-owner car it has only been driven just 1005 kilometres and came with the tailored luggage, removable hardtop case and milestone documents.
Designed by Pininfarina and made from carbon fibre, Kevlar, and Nomex honeycomb, it’s powered by a naturally aspirated 4.7lt V-12 putting out 513hp with zero to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 325km/h.

Given the prices here for 240 Z Datos, this is a bit of a bargain. It still has a 2.4lt six with a 5-speed manual gearbox, along with its original toolkit. It has been with the same owner since 1990 and has recently come out of storage.
Finished in Yellow Lime with black interior it underwent a recent service and is now ready to go for road use or as an historic racer.

The Sigma was a popular family model for the Japanese brand, introduced around the time the company morphed from Chrysler to Mitsubishi. The GSR was the sports model and this one features a two-tone brown and cream cabin to complement the red exterior.
Power comes from the Astron 2.6-litre engine and this one is quite rare, being a manual. It has travelled 183,917 miles. If you are in Brisbane, you can check it out at their showroom, otherwise do it online. The auction commences February 21.
