Mercedes-Benz W124

mercedes-benz-2.jpg

The last of the mid-size bank vault Benzes is the W124, from the mid-1980s. They have a build quality never seen again in the marque. Originally in two sedans, the 230E four-cylinder and the 300E six-cylinder, a 260E six 300E-24 valve six and 300D diesel six were soon added, and later on a 220E four. A wagon body joined the lineup and if you can get your mitts on one, do it. Despite corrosion protection, rust is now an issue, so delve into all the nooks and crannies. Mechanically they are pretty bulletproof. As always have a specialist look at it before buying. Enthusiasts are cottoning on, so prices will soon head north.
