John Goss XB + Dodge Daytona + Z06 Corvette – Auction Action

Auction highlights from around the world...

1975 John Goss Special XB V8 manual coupe

Sold: $132,800
Grays

Fresh from his Bathurst win in 1974, the flamboyant John Goss was a favourite in the corridors of Ford HQ in Broadmeadows. Given his popularity, Henry’s boys seized the moment, whipping up the John Goss Special, largely by raiding the parts bins and giving it a unique finish. There is no definitive number to its production run, but who cares? Today they’re more sought-after than ever. This August 1975 built example has a 302ci V8 and manual gearbox combo and shows 333,046km.

Here is a one-owner example of the Daytona of which just 503 were made in 1969. After long term storage it had a complete resto in 2002. Then it had a gallop at the Gateway International Raceway, just for fun it seems. Under the bonnet lies a 440hp V8 bolted to a Torqueflite auto and an A36 performance rear axle. Inside, is a rare black-and-white interior with bucket seats, centre console and sports steering wheel. It sold with service history and resto photos.

Zero to 100km/h is done in 3.8 seconds with top speed pegged at 305km/h. A converted to right-hand drive example, it shows 2225 km on the odo and is one of 2552 produced, and just one of 691 with the 60th Anniversary and Heritage packages.

1998 BMW Z3 M Coupe

Shannons Online Springtime Auction
Tuesday 08 – 15 November 2022
Estimate range: $65,000-75,000

At its launch in 1997, the Chris Bangle penned coupe, quickly dubbed the ‘clown shoe’ polarised onlookers. Its long bonnet, stubby tail and big wheel arches were unlike other Beemers. The M coupe sat lower, and on a wider track and featured four exhaust pipes. Additionally the M coupe had oval shape exterior mirrors and, chrome gills in the front guards. Powering it was a 3.2-litre straight-six lifted from the E36 M3. It produced an attention-grabbing 236kW and 350Nm. One of our favourite M cars. Offered with no reserve.
