Valiant VH Charger R/T E37 + HDT VL Group 3 Brock Signature + Toyota Century V12 – Auction Action 467

The auction world is full of suprises, with big sales and the odd bargain. Here are some of the highlights

1971 Valiant VH Charger R/T E37

Sold: $200,500
Shannons Online Auction

Signature Hemi-orange paintwork, black interior and jellybean mags are the signature features of this R/T E37 Charger, one of Australia’s most sought-after muscle cars from the Mopar church. Under the bonnet is the 265ci six with the optional Six Pack 245hp tune, tied to a three-speed manual. This totally restored example was built in October 1971 and features exterior and interior dress-up options. It came with a Valiant InfoBase certificate confirming its original factory specification and manufacturing details.

This Group 3 Brock Signature Series was built after the messy bust-up between HDT Special Vehicles and the General, adding another chapter to the Brock Holden history. It’s one of a handful made. A matching numbers car with HDT build #4158, and a documented logbook. It has 77,324km on the clock the interior is in original nick. Behind the tweaked V8 is a T5 manual box. One for any Holden or HDT collector. No mention of the polarizer though.

2000 Toyota Century V12

One thing for sure, you’re unlikely to park alongside one of these rare, top-shelf Toyota limousines here. The hand-built, special order Toyota flagship was the only Japanese front-engine, rear-drive V12 production car. It was opulence personified with an interior full of wood and leather along with every conceivable luxury. The front passenger seat converts to a footrest for the rear occupant.

2008 BMW M3 Coupe

Sold: $67,655

The sequel to the legendary E46 M3 had big shoes to fill. But stuffing a powerhouse V8 into the engine bay of the fourth-gen M3, a first for the badge, went a long way to winning fans. Adding to this unmodified example’s desirability is a six-speed manual box. Topping it off is Alpine white bodywork and silver leather trim. Sixty-three thousand kays by two owners
is the history of this car and it was sold with full books detailing its well-maintained past.

The body needs to be this long simply to accommodate the badge! This beaut late 1950s Ford land yacht in Inca Gold with gold, black and white interior has a retractable hardtop. Under the long bonnet is a 352ci V8 tied to an auto trans. Power windows, steering and brakes are fitted and under the chrome wheel spats are white wall tyres. Mounted on the guard is a desirable spotlight mirror. Retractable Skyliners are a rare breed first introduced in 1957 with revised models in ’58 and ’59.
