Aston Martin DB7 – today’s tempter

Brit six

Aston Martin’s DB7 was, by the standards of the boutique maker, a runaway success.

Built over a decade from 1994, the 3.2lt straight six version reached a volume of over 7000 units. There was also a V12 Vantage offering.

Built both as a two-door hardtop and convertible, the supercharged straight six claimed a healthy 250kW and was available either as a five-speed manual or four-speed auto.

Its design was by Ian Callum and Keith Helfet, both of whom also worked for Jaguar.

This was a period when Ford owned Aston Martin and the international car market had suffered a downturn. As a result, the DB7 shared some trim components with other marques including some Mazdas. Strangely, the wing mirrors were shared with a Citroen CX.

The auto example shown here claims to have had a fair amount spent recently on maintenance and shows 114,000km on the odo.

It’s located in the ACT and is on the market at $74,950.
