American Motors/Studebaker 1947-1978 – 2021 Market Review

2021 Market Review - American Motors/Studebaker 1947-1978

Not very many years ago, anyone a bit strapped for cash but wanting an American classic could hunt down a Studebaker or Rambler.

The 1960s-70s Rebel and Matador were built here and parts can still be found, however the $50K being asked for some Rebels must be flattening demand. We only saw one of the six-cylinder American/Hornet duo and it wasn’t cheap either, but the one-off Javelin still offered value.

Amongst the Studebakers, compact Lark and Cruiser sedans with V8 motors were once Bathurst 500 front-runners and good cars at $25,000 offer decent buying. Similar money has been asked for 1940s-50s sedans but a very good two-door President, Starlite or Hawk two-door will likely cost $50,000+.
