AC Cobra replica – todays project tempter

Time to grab the toolkit and have a go

This might be a bargain for the brave – tackling a part-finished project. AC Cobra has been the inspiration for countless replicas over the years, from the USA, UK and here.

This car is an Evans, which is a South Australian outfit that shut down some years ago. However that’s no reason why the car can’t be completed. These things are one-off builds by nature and much of the componentry is already in place.

The owner mentions a Windsor V8, which appears to be injected, plus a Borg Warner five-speed transmission. Underneath its running some Jaguar componentry, which is a well-trodden path when it comes to building a chassis.

Also mentioned are some engineering documentation and assembly instructions.

Assessing these things is always a case-by-case basis, and this one looks like you’d be off to a pretty substantial start. It’s on the market for $22,000.
