The 70th annual Pebble Beach Concours will take place in 2021
Late last night, it was announced that the 70th annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will not be taking place in 2020, amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The world’s most esteemed concours is the cornerstone event of Monterey Car Week, originally set to take place on August 16th, but will instead be rescheduled for August 15, 2021.
Many expect the rest of the Monterey Car Week festivities will subsequently fold without its flagship concours event to lean on.
In a release from Pebble Beach organisers, Concours Chairman Sandra Button stated: “my heart goes out to all of the people people who are involved in the Pebble Beach Concours and who are impacted by this decision”.
“Many of our entrants have been working on a special car for years, and this was to be their moment. Some of our overseas entrants were nearing the point of putting their cars on boats and planes, and their own travel arrangements have long been made. The same is true for many of our international cadre of judges.”

The release goes on to say that the car selection process was only recently completed, with all entrants notified of their acceptance earlier this month. All invitations will remain valid for next year’s event.
Special features and displays already confirmed will also be carried over to next year’s festivities, including dedicated classes for: Pininfarina coachwork, the Porsche 917, Talbot-Lago Grand Sport, Miller Racing and the Carrera Panamericana.
Company CEO William L. Perrochi closed by stating: “Pebble Beach Company has been pleased to host this event since its beginning, and we look forward to hosting the 70th celebration in 2021″.
“Ultimately, the continued health and safety of everyone associated with the Concours is our number one priority, which led us to this difficult decision. We recognize that cancelling the 2020 Event will be disappointing to many, although we are confident it is appropriate under these unique circumstances”.
All spectator tickets purchased for this year’s event will remain valid for the 2021 occasion. Ticket purchasers who are unable to attend on the 2021 date, may request a refund by contacting info@pebblebeachconcours.net
