With the local relaunch of Mustang in 2014, there was a flurry of renewed interest in the series. It coincided with a model revision that put the nameplate back on track when it came to a combination of styling and performance.
Tickford got involved in building several enhanced and/or specials, with the most prominent being the 77 Edition, celebrating Ford’s one-two Falcon hardtop finish at Bathurst in 1977, with Allan Moffat as team leader.
The car mimicked the paint of the seventies Fords and, perhaps more importantly, included a supercharger for the engine, taking it to a claimed 727hp (542kW). They ran a six-speed manual transmission.
That engine upgrade was complemented by a number of chassis enhancements.
Just 77 were built and they cost more than double the price of a stock Mustang. This example is with Pennant Hills Auto in Sydney, priced at $200,000.
