Rare roadster
In the late 1990s Porsche was keen to expand its model range and the Boxster was born. Then in 2005 Porsche slipped another roadster into its portfolio, with the mid-engine Cayman fastback coupe.
Noted in our review of the second-generation Cayman, two-time World Rally Champion and driving legend Walter Rohrl said, “On dry roads, the Cayman S is the maximum car we (Porsche) have”. He went on to explain that the friendlier, mid-engined balance of the Cayman made it easier for the average punter to extract everything from it, where the rear-engined 911 requires greater skill. Meet Mr Porsche.
Sharing the running gear with the 911 of the day, this rare gen-two 2014 Cayman GTS has 250kW with the powerhouse tied to a seven-speed auto. Finished in black and sitting on 20-inch alloys wrapped in sticky Pirellis, the odo shows 47,700kms. Based in Queensland, it’s priced at $159,990. Here are the details.
